Frequently asked questions
Things to know before masking your Aadhaar document.
What is Aadhaar masking?
Aadhaar masking hides the first eight digits of a 12-digit Aadhaar number and leaves only the last four digits visible. Check that the output matches this requirement before sharing it.
Which image and PDF formats are supported?
Images: JPG, JPEG, PNG and WebP. Documents: PDF. Very large or damaged files may fail to process.
Which Aadhaar digits remain visible?
The intended result is to hide the first eight digits and leave the final four visible. Because OCR can misread characters or positions, always verify the output manually.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
This page processes the selected file in your browser and does not send it to a YourView backend. It loads OCR and PDF libraries from external CDNs. If strict offline processing is required, host trusted copies of these libraries on your own domain.
Can I cancel processing or clear a file?
Yes. Use Cancel processing while the task is running. Use Clear to remove the selected file and reset the interface. If a browser operation cannot stop immediately, the page will ignore its result after cancellation.
Does it work with scanned PDFs?
The tool renders PDF pages as images and uses OCR, so scanned pages can be processed. OCR results are not guaranteed, particularly for low-quality scans, rotated pages or faint print.
Will my PDF text remain selectable?
PDF output is rebuilt from page images to avoid retaining the original selectable text layer. This means the output is generally not searchable or selectable like the original PDF.
Is the masked document officially valid everywhere?
Acceptance depends on the organisation and purpose. Confirm the applicable requirements with the recipient before submitting a masked document.
